Chairman Councillor Allan Glass with his vice-chairman Councillor Marshall Palmer discussing this year's Daisy Chain Run (2004).
Councillor Marshall Palmer and I are very pleased to be elected vice-chairman and chairman of Fawley Parish Council.

Fawley is a wonderful place to live with fantastic facilities, beaches and access to the New Forest. We intend to run the council in an economic way, in order to ensure that the residents get the best value for money possible with the minimum amount of increases in taxation, and still continue to deliver the best value services.

It is an excellent site and is being considered for awards for its content and accessibility. Please do take time to visit the web site which contains Council business and information and much more besides. Click on the links in BLUE to find out more.

Introducing the Parish of Fawley

The Parish lies between the New Forest, Southampton Water and the Solent, and covers the Villages and Wards of Fawley, Blackfield, Calshot, Langley, Hardley and Holbury.

The population is in the region of 14,500. It is dominated by the Esso-Exxon Mobil Petro-Chemical complex, which fronts onto Southampton Water. (To hear Esso Fawley alarm information telephone 0800 169 3597).

The area has good communications through the M271 at Totton, to the M27 giving direct motorwaylinks to London, The Midlands and Portsmouth. Mainline Train connections are available in Southampton (70 minutes to Waterloo). Bus Operators in the area are Solent Blue Line.

For visitors interested in local history, the village of Fawley is mentioned in the Domesday book, and has a thriving local history society, The Fawley Historians, which meet once month.

There are 15 Parish Councillors covering 4 wards: Blackfield and Langley, Fawley, Holbury and Hardley and more recently, Calshot. The Council and its Committees meet regularly, usually at Jubilee Hall in Fawley. The Council conducts its business through three Committees: Amenities, Public Services, and Policy, Resources & Personnel.

We are very proud of our Recreation Facilities which cater for a wide selection of the community from the "cradle to the grave"!

Fawley has easy access to both Southampton Water and the Solent for sailing, and courses for both adults and children in various water sports are available at the Hampshire County Council Activities Centre at Calshot.

For those who prefer walking in stunning areas of beauty, there is the whole of the New Forest, which borders the parish on the western side to enjoy. The Fawley Parish website will be updated regularly, with the up to date news and events going on in and around the Parish.

We also have information which might be useful to people thinking of moving to the area, including health care and education. We welcome your views and look forward to hearing from you.
