Joint Venture Results in Footie Fun
Last Updated: Tuesday, 8 June, 2004 23:59 BST

A joint venture between Fawley Parish Council, the Police and a local business, CHB Jorden based at Hardley Industrial Estate has resulted in goal posts being erected in Hobson Way Play Area.

Many young people in the Holbury area had told PC Lampard that they wanted something to do in the evenings, and suggested some football goal posts.

Following talks between PC Lampard, the local liaison police officer, and Fawley Parish Council, it was agreed to erect the posts in the Hobson Way, Play Area. Cllr Eddie Holtham approached CHB Jorden for assistance and the workshop supervisor, Martin Jackson, readily agreed to make and donate them.

The posts were erected in time for the Spring Bank Holiday, and have been regularly used since.

PC Lampard has said that there has been a marked reduction in the number of young people hanging around the shops in the Holbury Drove Precinct, and local residents are pleased that the youngsters have been given this equipment to enjoy.
