Peter
Stevens, Head Groundsman of Fawley Parish Council, has
been awarded the “County Groundsman of the Year
Award for Local Authorities” by the Hampshire Football
Association.
He received his award at Hampshire Football Associations’ Council Meeting,
which was held on Wednesday 10th March 2004.
He
joined the Council as Head Groundsman back in 1986 and
has overseen the improvement made to the pitches in the
years since.
The
quality of the pitches are often commented upon, over the
last two winters during some of the wettest weather, there
have been occasions where the only football games to take
place in the area have been at Gang Warily.
The
council would like to congratulate Peter on his “much
deserved award” and to thank him for all his hard
work.
A
new
Senior
Groundsman Tom Smith joined the team on Monday
8th March 2004.
He
comes to the council with a wealth of Knowledge and experience
in machinery maintenance and grounds work.He
will be a valuable addition to a highly successful team
who will look after the sports pitches and open spaces
within the Fawley Parish.
