Time is ticking on towards the issue of new parking clocks, valid in most New Forest District Council car parks.

The clocks - which cost just £6 for 12 months parking fees - will be on sale at NFDC offices, health and leisure centres and information offices from October 18.

They are valid from January 1 2005 when the old clocks run out.

More than 65,000 people living and working in the New Forest bought parking clocks last year.

"Buying a clock gives you a year's parking for just six pounds," said Cllr Mel Kendal, leader of New Forest District Council.

"I plan to buy mine as soon as they are available."

For those wanting to save time, parking clocks may be bought on-line at the council's website: www.nfdc.gov.uk
A 'save time - buy on-line' button will take visitors to the purchase point.

Clocks may also be bought by debit or credit card by telephoning 01590 646123.

Those who want clocks should bear in mind that council offices will be closed over the Christmas period from 4pm on Friday December 24 until Tuesday January 4.

"It is wise to buy your 2005 clock in good time," said Cllr Kendal.

"The new ones come into force from the beginning of the year, and it would be as well to have your new clock ready in time for the new year.
