Romeo, still mourning the death of his Juliet, who was killed
by a fox as she sat on her nest.

IT'S a tragic love story with one of the saddest of endings.
Romeo and Juliet were a devoted couple who had brought up
a number of youngsters to appreciate the beauty of their
surroundings. The black swans had been favourites with visitors
for six years at Hampshire's Exbury Gardens and some of
the pair's cygnets have gone on to new lives in Regents
Park in London.

ONE of the New Forest's top tourist attractions has taken
action to silence critics of its narrow gauge railway. People
living alongside Exbury Gardens, near Beaulieu, have complained
about the sound made by the whistles attached to the two
steam engines.

slip-up over tourist spot railway

ONE of Hampshire's biggest tourist attractions - the Exbury
Gardens mini railway - is back before planners today because
it has been discovered that the train steamed ahead without
a proper ticket. The narrow gauge railway near Beaulieu
in the New Forest was given the green light from district
councillors two years ago, but a full planning permission
certificate was never issued because of a mistake.
